WHAT IS FAIRTRADE?

Fair Trade is a partnership between producers and consumers that ensure producers/manufacturers receive good working conditions and fair prices.

Fair Trade principles include:

• Paying fair prices to the producers which reflect the true cost of production – world market prices often do not cover even the cost of the raw materials
• Supporting producer organisations in their social development projects – many provide health and education facilities
• Promoting the empowerment of women
• Advising on product development to increase access to markets
• Committing to long term relationships to provide stability and security
• Campaigning to highlight the unequal system of world trade.
• Trading for justice

I believe in miracles ltd believes and actively supports all these principles.

FAIRTRADE MARK

The Fairtrade mark is given to selected range of products including bananas, chocolate, coffee, tea and cotton.  Many composite products (such as the ones we produce) cannot yet hold the Fairtrade mark.  However 100% fairtrade cotton items can hold the mark and our T-shirts hold the Fairtrade mark.  For more information on the Fairtrade mark please go to www.fairtrade.org.uk

 

BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Shops)

The British Association for Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS) is a network of independent fair trade retailers and wholesalers across the UK.

BAFTS promote fair trade retailing in the UK, seek to raise the profile of fair trade on the High Street and provide a point of contact and communication for the exchange of ideas amongst our members.
